Technical Underwriter

Camberford Underwriting, a key part of Brown & Brown (Europe), are looking to recruit a Technical Underwriter to join our team, on an initial 12-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Underwriter to join a growing & innovative business in a key senior position. Duties will include:
- Assisting maintenance and updating of the Underwriting System, Technical underwriting guides, endorsements, referrals from the trading teams, conduct risk and underwriting technical controls.
- Focusing on Underwriting quality, including assisting with conducting QA , large case/claim reviews and reviewing & updating exception reports
- Contributing to research and assisting in the Product Lifecycle and Ongoing Product Governance Process including FVA for our schemes
- Contributing to group transformation project assisting migrating product specifications to build the product from a technical underwriting perspective supporting the wider technical team
- Building and maintaining relationships with all Camberford Teammates, and the wider group.
Work closely with the Technical team to:
- Ensure technical documentation is compliant with regulatory and binder requirements
- Ensure all scheme and product underwriting guides are in place and regularly updated and re-issued appropriately
- Ensure technical underwriting endorsements maintain contract certainty and are kept up to date with any technical documentation system changes.
- Manage manually applied technical underwriting endorsements in accordance with our authority.
- Respond to internal referrals from Trading and Claims teammates
- Work alongside Underwriting Governance and Product teams to ensure the oversight process is managed in line with the required frequency or when changes required, or when launching new products and ensure all technical documentation suite is signed off by the required deadlines
- Contribute to creation, maintenance, version control and review of wordings, FAQs, Product Summaries
- Assist in testing any changes made within our systems to ensure compliance
- Assist in maintaining exception reports, embed in operation and monitor
- Assist with Data and MI analysis ready for the team to analyse, update and maintain performance reports for internal and external use to ensure we are hitting agreed targets
- Assist in maintaining and reviewing Underwriting Licences
Previous Underwriting experience is required to be considered for this role, ideally within the Commercial or Property sectors.

New Business Underwriter
Liability Underwriter
Location: Bromley (Hybrid, 3 days per week in office)

Camberford Underwriting are a key and prominent part of Brown & Brown Europe and this is a fantastic opportunity to join the business in an important role. You'll be underwriting profitable new business, with a bias towards Electrical and HVAC, on a day to day basis and assisting brokers with the smooth running of existing policies.
Duties to be performed will include:
Handle New Business. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Reviewing and analysing presentations and proposals.
- Underwriting risks within authority levels and in accordance with any underwriting licence that is in place.
- Using capacity appropriately.
- Issuance of quotations to brokers.
- Entering risk information onto appropriate systems.
- Negotiating with brokers.
- Keeping relevant registers, logs and records up to date as required by team procedures e.g. new business logs, renewal registers, group business registers.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and insurers.
- Conduct prospecting activities as required by team procedures e.g. cases that lapsed last year, cases quoted but not bound last year.
- Provide correct and high quality to advice to brokers on Camberford Underwriting products.
- Issue clear and correct instructions to members of the Administration team.
Carry out all business activity strictly within the rules and requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority.
Ensure the fair treatment of policyholders and prospective policyholders.
Adhere to all Company, and where appropriate Group, Compliance policies, procedures and practices.
Adopt and promote a positive, proactive attitude to compliance matters.
Achieve individual and department targets as specified in your Objectives.

Credit Controller
Location: Bromley (Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office)
Salary: £Negotiable
Camberford Underwriting are looking to strengthen our team with the appointment of a Credit Controller to assist with looking after our Underwriting team in Bromley.
Working alongside the Accounts Manager you’ll be responsible for managing aged debtors and credit control related matters.
The day to day:
- Chasing insurance brokers for payment of premiums in accordance with the Company Credit Control Procedures.
- Checking Premium Credit to see when funding will be received and chasing Brokers for signed credit agreements.
- Producing Debtors lists.
- Liaising with colleagues to decide how to deal with problem cases.
- Sending Broker Statements via email on monthly basis.
- Invoice checking – identify invoices that have been generated incorrectly and refer them to the appropriate individual to be corrected.
- Assisting with wider tasks in the Accounts Department where required.
- Carry out regular training as appropriate to the position held and areas of activity, to maintain competencies in accordance with FCA requirements.
- Assisting with wider project work as required.
About you:
- You’ll be a proactive individual with a passion for delivering results for the wider team, your existing knowledge of Credit Control / Finance will enable you to quickly settle into the role.
- You have prior experience within Credit Control / Ledger Management role within a regulated environment (ideally within and FCA environment, although a professional services background will be considered.
- Your skill set should include strong communication (written, verbal, video), numerical, analytical, stakeholder management and IT Skills coupled with a can do approach when tackling problems.
- Able to produce and manage appropriate management information for the team around Aged Debt on both an individual account basis and on a portfolio basis.
